Here’s some more fuel for the fire. I don’t buy Taim’s story about how he got one of the seals. It’s too flimsy, I think he offered it just to get into Rand’s confidence. As a Forsaken he could care less who has it since the Dark One will escape no matter what. Taim’s fortuitous appearance when a Gray Man showed up in Rand’s throne room. Did he gain some knowledge that someone had sent the Gray Man or maybe he sent it himself. Then there is Taim’s knowledge of Sammael’s plan to defend Illian (p496, Lord of Chaos): "...what I would do in Sammael’s place. I would have Illian warded in boxes,..." Lews Therin knows Sammael is more inclined for someone to bring the fight to him because he is a master of defense, but how does Taim know this? Another fortuitous appearance of Taim at the end of Lord of Chaos at Dumai’s Wells. No explanation is ever given by him on how he knew where Rand was. This is small, but it is a question that just bugs me. When Perrin smells any Asha’man, there is always a changing of emotions quicker than any other normal person. This is a sign of the coming madness, but Taim’s scent is always stable... why?
wotmania says: Everyone always thinks Taim is Demandred. Sigh... I like the point about Taim’s scent being stable - the fact that the taint does not touch him would certainly be a reasonable explanation for this. Maybe one of these days I will be convinced Taim is Demandred. If I could ask Jordan only one question, this would probably be the one. Or maybe I would ask how many books this series is going to be...
