Bits and Pieces

Alright, this is my first posting and I have a few stuff to get off my chest.

In A Crown of Swords at the end of the chapter entitled "Unseen Eyes," Egwene describes some of her dreams.

"A golden hawk stretched out its wing and touched her, and she and the hawk were tied together somehow; all she new was that the hawk was female."
Alright. The golden hawk can be interpreted as Berelain especially since other images concerning hawks that were somehow known to be female are also connected to Berelain. What I don’t get is, what is the connection between Berelain and Egwene? If I remember correctly Egwene didn’t like Berelain very much, come to think of it, none of the women in all of Randland like Berelain very much. I can’t seem to be able to draw any lines connecting the two characters.

Secondly, if "blood on the Rocks of Shayol Ghul..." can be interpreted as Galad’s blood, why not be even more general and say Aiel blood on the rocks? The Aiel after all are the People of the Dragon, Rand is after all half Aiel in blood, and the Car’a’carn is supposed to take them back and "destroy them." Here’s a possible scenario, Rand leads an army to Shayol Ghul a la Lews Therin and his strike at Shayol Ghul, who better to have than the entire Aiel Nation? Just a thought.

wotmania says: I cannot imagine why none of the women like Berelain... Berelain is a tough, resourceful, and intelligent leader. I can see her and Egwene getting along rather well. Maybe she could even teach Egwene a thing or two. I do not think it will be Galad’s blood shed at Tarmon Gai’don. If that is the way you want to look at this prophecy, though, the idea it might be Aiel blood is entirely valid.

Well if Rand is half brother to Galad, and Berlain is the consumate Hawk then Berlain does have a connection to Egwene. Galad cares for Egwene like a sister (and nothing more I would think) and knows that her brother loves her I think. So hi brothers one true love being a Tar Valon Witch is still not enough to get him set against her. I can see Galad starting a faction of Whitecloaks for the Salidar Aes Sedai because they are fighting to change the very nature of the Tower itself. Berlain has been predicted to fall in love with a man in white yes? Is it a man wearing white (a Child of the Light) or Berlain wearing white (getting taken Gaishan if she and Perrin catch up to Faile). If she falls in Love with Galad (hey opposites attract right?) and he takes her with him to go help Egwene with the War (bringing a bang of Children of the Light, and having his little bro's younglings, not to mention the Mayener forces with Berlain and maybe some more reinforcements from home, added to Brynes forces gives them most if not all if not more than the men that they need) effor then Berlain and the Amyrlin will be involved with the war council.

There's a connection betwixt Egwene and Berlain (hey I didn't even have to make any snide pillow friends jokes).

Sooner or later it all connects back to itself.

I personally believe that the hawk you are talking about is not Berlain but the Seanchan who are the descendants of Hawkwings empire. I believe dear Egwene is the only Aes Sedai capable of both controlling and yet embracing the broken Suldam/damane into the Tower as yet another extension. though its not a very strong one just stronger than yours

Where did these Skimmers come from? I mean if they didn't want to read the book they could have just Traveled to another author. Why risk arriving at the wrong destination? Why risk falling into darkness?

two things

I think that this could be one of two things. Egwene is going to marry Gawyn or be killed. Berelain is going to marry a man in white which could very likley be Galad. That would make Berelain Egwenes sister in law, connection enough.
The other possibility is Mat. Mat is going to marry Tuon/ the daughter of nine moons. The sign of the imperial family is a hawk with lightning in its talons. But as to what the connection between the two is I am unsure although we know Tuon can learn to channel because of her training of the Damane. Maybe they will meet in the tower.

Berelain IS the Hawk

Who else?
She's a Hawkwing, yes? yes.

Some times nothin' is a real cool hand.

Berelain's man in white

Galad is a good thought, I'm surprised it hasn't come up as a possibility before. I can hardly see her falling in love with a gai'shan, unless it's Rhuarc, who I think is more of a father figure to her than a lover....
(besides, he's already got two wives who could skin and filet Berelain if she tried).

Women hate Berelain because...

Wotmania, as to your comment of why you can't understand why no women like Berelain, I can tell you why. She is my least favorite character in all of the books (well, it is a tie with Graendal), and I know it is because I would hate her if I really knew her. She and Graendal both remind me of, say, a Playboy model. Women don't like Playboy models who strut their stuff and hit on all the men in the room. Scratch that, women hate them. Berelain dresses like a slut, even when it is cold, and throws herself at men. I hated her the most in WH when she led everyone to believe that she slept with Perrin. Berelain SUCKS!

Berelain

I can't see why no female character is supposed to like Berelain. She got on extremely well with the Wise Ones in Cairhien, remember?

Plus, Rand is related to the Aiel, so it really is his blood spilled on the rocks. And because he is prophesized to destroy the Aiel, that's probably what's gonna happen.
