Dashiva is certainly not the dreamer that he appears to be, or at least, that’s not all he is. I believe that Dashiva is really Osan’gar aka Aginor. He has to be somewhere . I have several reasons for believing this is the case. Dashiva speaks the Old Tongue fluently, he often plays with his face like Osan’gar does (as he is unused to this new face), and he is prone to fits of giggling - just like Aginor after he escaped the Bore. He is also very strong in the Power and is almost useless with a sword. Aginor was never a soldier; he was a scientist.
Now, if Dashiva is Aginor, it is likely he has received orders similar to those of Demandred, not to attack Rand, but to "let the Lord of Chaos rule." Perhaps he broke up the attack via compulsion, hoping to get control of the four Asha’man before sending them back to Taim or some such thing. Unfortunately, Rand spotted him. He is furious with himself and Rand and lashes out before thinking. Having been discovered, he has no choice but to flee and take the Asha’man with him. What do you think?
wotmania says: One of my personal favorite theories, that Dashiva is really Osan’gar. I agree completely on this point. It would make sense that Osan’gar, like Demandred, is not to kill Rand. If Osan’gar messes up, I would certainly not want to be in his shoes...
