Just a thought that occurred to me, seeing the discussion of the taint of saidin.... There are many times when the Dark One says that this time around is different, that (he thinks) the Shadow will win for good this time. However, when Rand goes through the Portal Stones and hits the alternate realities, he hears, not "I win, Lews Therin," but instead, "I win again, Lews Therin." The Wheel of Time is described as being driven by the One Power. In order to prevent the cycle from recurring, is it possible that Rand will, rather than cleansing the True Source, eliminate it? This would make the end result of Tarmon Gai’don (which, hopefully would already have happened by this point) a permanent effect. Or, perhaps his means of winning Tarmon Gai’don could be to eliminate the True Power? If the taint on saidin is a massive weave of the True Power, couldn’t it be eliminated by removing the source of True Power? Just a thought.
wotmania says: I do not know what to think of this topic... What if Rand wins Tarmon Gai’don, and it really is the LAST battle? Will I be bummed? I am not so sure. But I think one possible ending for The Wheel of Time would be the elimination of the One Power. Time rolls forward never to come around again...
